What to expect during a Holistic Pelvic Care Session
The first session moves more slowly to ensure comfort and to introduce the ideas of the therapy. Expect the session to be about 30 minutes from start to finish. It starts with breathwork and visualization exercises, and then assessment of the musculature. Then, the intervaginal muscle release techniques will begin. It is usually relatively painless, although trigger points can feel rather tender at first. The session then ends with more breathwork and a guided meditation.
There may be additional sessions recommended to continue releasing tight muscle patterns and fascia. Generally, most women benefit from at least 3 sessions. There may also be home exercises and techniques recommended for in between sessions or ongoing care.
What to expect after a Holistic Pelvic Care session
The goal of the therapy will be to reduce symptoms such as pain, urinary issues, etc. Many women notice benefits after just one session. They also may notice increased libido and awareness of their pelvic bowl. The guided imagery and breathwork can also instill calm and peace, and allow space for improved mental clarity.
A Note about Pregnancy
HPC cannot be performed while someone is pregnant, but can be done 6 weeks after delivery, whether it is a vaginal or cesarean birth. It can be performed sooner for early pregnancy loss.
